glossary:end-system

Term to be defined

In Internet terms, an end-system (or “host”) is any computing device that is connected to another computing device via a network to create a network application. Traditionally, end-systems would have been desktop computers, laptops and network servers. However, in the modern Internet, end-systems can be televisions, game consoles, mobile phones, MP3 players, smart picture frames, media servers, and even domestic appliances.
