====== User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ======

//UDP// is the [[Internet]]'s [[connectionless|connectionless communication protocol]]. UDP provides a best-effort delivery of [[datagram|datagrams]] from a [[client]] process to a [[server]] process. It provides no reliability guarantees, nor does it have [[flow_control|flow]] or [[congestion control]]. It however has no [[connection overhead]] so it can be more efficient for time-sensitive applications that can tolerate some [[data loss]].
