A //Request for Comments (RFC)// is a memorandum published by the [[ietf_standard|Internet Engineering Task Force]] (IETF) describing methods, behaviours, research, or innovations applicable to the working of the [[Internet]] and Internet-connected systems. The name //Request for Comments// reflects the collegiate nature of the original Internet pioneers: although the name implies a certain informality, RFCs are in fact standards.
