 +[[SI unit]] prefix meaning 1,000,000,000 (or one billion). In networking terms, it is normally associated with the link capacity ([[bandwidth]]) of a high-speed or [[Internet backbone]] link. In this context it is used for example as "this link has a bandwidth of 1 gigabits per second (Gbit/s).
