Communication Service Model

A term that, in the context of netorking, is normally applied to the connection path (or route) between end-systems and describes the nature of the path between the communicating processes engaged in a networked application and its performance characteristics. In the Internet it will one of either the connection-oriented service provided by TCP or the connectionless service provided by UDP.
